On August 7, Italian band New Sun will unleash their debut album, Hanged’s Fate, through Wormholedeath Records.
With this important moment just around the corner, I had the pleasure of getting to know the band and learning more about who they are, what they want to express through their music, their own approach to metal, and the thoughts and emotions behind their lyrics.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to speak with Metal Revolt! First of all, how are you, and how are things in the New Sun’s camp at the moment?
Good morning!! We’re doing great! We are super hyped about the upcoming release of our album!! We’re extremely excited about it!!
The band was formed in Northern Italy. Who are New Sun, and how did the band first come together?
Yes, New Sun was formed in Northern Italy. It all started with our guitarist, Lorenzo, who was looking to create a band without starting from a specific genre. It was supposed to be metal, but the idea was to first build a like-minded lineup, and the sound and genre would naturally stem from that. Thanks to Mattia Z.’s bass grooves and other early members, things started taking shape. There were a couple of lineup changes until we reached our current one, featuring Mattia B. on drums and Alex as our new vocalist. Everyone has different tastes within the metal scene, and that’s what created and shaped the New Sun sound and style.
How would you personally describe the sound of New Sun to someone discovering the band for the first time?
That’s a super tough question! We had a really hard time defining ourselves. Right now, we’re right in the middle of a modern and extreme metal wave; we give a nod in that direction, but without going overboard. We care a lot about metal from a couple of decades ago, but we don’t want to be “predictable.” We believe we’ve found a good balance between both worlds where we can express ourselves really well!
Your debut full-length album, Hanged’s Fate, will be released on the 7th of August through Wormholedeath Records. How does it feel to finally release your debut album, and what does this moment mean for you?
There are so many mixed emotions. We’re super excited about the release and, at the same time, curious to see how things go afterward. We hope for a good response from listeners and to live up to today’s releases! But we’re confident we have a great album on our hands; plus, the team at WormholeDeath does amazing work, and we’re always in touch!
What are the main themes and stories behind Hanged’s Fate, and what did you want to express through the album?
The main themes are undoubtedly rebirth and self-awareness. It’s a journey through fears and reactions, between falling down and coming to realizations. Through our music, we want to convey what so many people have on their minds but don’t want to say or are afraid to face…
What was the greatest challenge you faced during the creation of your debut album?
Definitely the sudden lineup changes and the friction that built up before or during them—we’re all different, and everyone thinks and approaches things in their own way. Now the lineup is stable and we’re all well-aligned; we have a blast together, and that makes a huge difference.
How did your collaboration with Wormholedeath Records begin, and what does signing with the label mean for the next stage of the band?
Once the album was finished, we reached out to various local labels, both big and small. We definitely didn’t expect such a positive and enthusiastic response from them, and it blew us away!! It was a huge step for us, and we’re really curious to see what the future holds!
Are there any live shows or tour plans coming up that you can share with us?
We have a few show dates scheduled in nearby areas, but we still need to plan proper tours! Hopefully, in the new year, we’ll be able to travel more and bring our music everywhere
Looking ahead, what is next for New Sun after the release of the album?
With the album release, we’ll definitely be getting ourselves out there. We really hope people listen to us a lot and enjoy our style, and it would be awesome to land some major festival and concert lineups! We hope to stand out from the crowd through our authenticity.
