And just as I was caught up in the struggle of everyday life and all its problems, there it was: a notification in the Metal Revolt inbox.
“Madball are releasing a new album. Would you like to hear it?” Needless to say, the moment I read the word “Madball,” I instantly clicked!
Madball are back, ladies and gentlemen, reaching their tenth album in their long history. “Not Your Kingdom” will be released on July 24 through Nuclear Blast, and since the release date is so close, there is no reason for me to reveal everything. Very soon, you will be able to hear it all for yourselves!
From the album’s very first moments, Madball make their intentions perfectly clear. There are no flashy or unnecessary introductions. The band attacks with the classic, “in-your-face” hardcore that made them who they are with aggression, intensity and groovy riffs.
The rhythm is contagious, heavy and enjoyable, leaving you with very little choice: it pulls you straight into the mosh pit!
Freddy Cricien delivers a masterclass once again. He sounds incredible, bringing all the aggression, intensity and passion you would expect from him to the album’s pure hardcore moments.
The constant changes in the pace are particularly enjoyable as well. Fast outbursts collide with heavier passages and breakdowns, keeping the album “alive” and the listener alert !
“Not Your Kingdom” is overflowing with hardcore attitude and old-school character, in the best possible way. Madball are among the greats of the genre, and they prove it once again by bringing this music into 2026 with power, character and authenticity.
They do not change who they are, and they do not try to become something that does not suit them. They remain raw, direct and real.
What more could anyone ask from Madball?
This is hardcore!
