This interview was conducted for Reckoning Hour / Metal Revolt from Konstantinos Sotirelis, on May 13, 2015.

Hi, how are you? Thank you very much for this interview.
Sadomancer:
Doing good, thanks for the interest.

So, how it’s going with the band so far?
Sadomancer:
Great I think.Evil power just got released on CD and we are in the mixing-process of ourn ext album“Chained to Hell”. Lots of other stuff coming up in the near future too.

Three years after the previous album, you release your new album, “Evil Power”. How do you feel about it?
Sadomancer:
Just very satisfied with it and the album turned out as good as it could, or even better. Only too bad it took such long time but things like mixing, mastering artwork etc is always a drag and we are slooow.

The album was released on 13th of April. What’s the fans’ reaction so far?
Sadomancer:
I think it didnt get released until some weeks ago but from what I heard everyone who heard it likes it. Haven`t heard any negative about it yet, which is always nice. Still think a lot of our fans are waiting for the LP-release though, which I would myself.

What are the differences of your previous albums?
Sadomancer:
Phantom knights was very brutal and aggressive in both songs, sound and execution. On Onward to the pits we toned some things a bit down to make it more evil and dark, even though it was not like a concious decision, its still very intense also but that album got our first “mid-tempo” song since 2006 for example. On Evil power we just went for total metal overkill and it turned out great, sounds like an album I would wanna buymyself.

A lot ofpeople believe that the third album of a band is their most important album. Do you agree?
Sadomancer:
I believe every album should be equally important and since we are a band who dont exactly have a “plan” or vision for every album I dont think that much about things like that. Just bashing out some violent shit, you know. The 12th album should be as good as the first!

Your first two albums, especially the “Onward to the Pits” album, were fast, wild and brutal. On the “Evil Power” do you follow the same way?
Sadomancer: Yeah, as I said I think Onward is not as brutal as our first album but it is certainly no picknic in the park either. The inspiration and metal lust is as strong and ever, which I think everyone can hear on Evil power.

Two albums with Hell’s Headbangers. Are you satisfied?
Sadomancer: Yeah they do a greatjob! Total die hards just like us.

Will you make anylive shows or maybe a tour so as to promote the album?Sadomancer: No, after Salsten moved to Australia for a while its gonna be a bit difficult so we aint gonna do that, but were doing the Hells headbangers festival in Cleveland this fall. That will kill.

Your last visit in thessaloniki, Greece, was nos as good as you planned. The band came here after midnight and the show took place not at the venue that you had announced. Do you remember why did this happen?
Sadomancer: I think the Greece minitour was great! Dont have anything but cloudly memories of it but no bad ones. I dont even remember that we was late and at a wrong venue haha. Would love to play Greece again! OUZO rules!

Why do you choose to have only two band members and to add another two for the shows? Have you ever thought about adding them as full members?
Sadomancer: The chemistry just was there with us two from day one so we never even discussed having someone else into the band. Why fix something that works perfectly? No but our live members sometimes contribute with solos and lyrics and stuff so thats cool.

This year you celebrate the 10 years of Deathhammer. Will you make anything special so as to celebrate?
Sadomancer: Hope Phantom knights will be out on vinyl before the year is over, its easily doable, things like that just always take some more time (or years) than you think. But we will try our best!

Despite the fact that the band exists for 10 years, you have only 3 full length albums, with the first on 2010, but a lot of demos and splits. Why didn’t you decide to release an album earlier?
Sadomancer: I dont know, we could easily have added a couple of songs to Forever ripping fast to make it a whole album but we just didnt think that far at the time I guess. As long as the albums are coming out on a steady pace now its all good I hope.

Thrash metal is alive again. In your opinion, what are the reasons that made this happen?
Sadomancer: People getting sick of the old guard making generic and boring shit-produced albums just to feed their family maybe, or the most obvious – just their love for old thrash metal. But its weird that nobody seemed to get that in the 90s. Now the metal-scene is as good as the 80s and thats killer. But its still a big lack of bands who play vicious thrash metal sadly. New Antichrist and Nekromantheon albums are gonna crush at least, and Inculter and Forced kill are great!

Well, that’s all for now. Thank you very much for this interview. I hope we ‘ll see you in Greece very soon. The last words are yours.
Sadomancer: Thanx for the support, kill for Satan!
