Hello Tasos and welcome to Metal Revolt!

Would you like to introduce the rest of the band to our readers ?

Of course! Stefanos Avramidis on vocals, Andreas Kalogeras on drums, Orfeas Kofinakos on guitars and Orfeas Konstantopoulos on bass guitar.

What are your musical and non-musical influences?

Mostly Bay-Area thrash bands but there are elements in our music from other genres and bands like Black Sabbath or Motorhead etc.

As for the non-musical influences I believe we are writing music from our experiences, the world we live in and we see it been torn apart.

What are your dreams and goals?

We just want to play our music and have fun with the audience for now. Our near goal is to get into the studio, work hard and get a fine LP realized. As for our dreams; they do not end. Sky is limit.

Who writes the songs, what are they about?

I write the music and Stefanos writes the lyrics.

We don’t have one particular subject. Every melody, every song we write reflects on  something else. Either it’s a personal matter or a political or even something spiritual.

What’s your opinion on Politics? Do you think an artist should express his opinion on it or just “write music”?

It’s one hot subject to talk about. I think that every artist should express his/her opinions and beliefs. That’s the magic thing about art.

It’s the freedom of expressing yourself through it; but ultimately it should be done through art and not through interviews.

How do you promote your work?

Right now through our page in Facebook.
But we’re going to make a channel on YouTube with the debut of our first demo song.

Describe a Gallows Pole show.

A show full of energy. With us trying to pass the energy and the passion we have through the audience that is watching us!

We see that streaming sites are on the rise. What do you think about downloading and streaming music?

I support them. I think music must be free. Just to hear. Then if you liked what you heard you should help that band or the musician.

What’s your outlook on the record industry today?

Where is this generation Led Zeppelin? Everything has become disposable. Industry decided that true art and true relationships between them, artist and audience is not profitable enough. Sad story.

What inspires you to do what you do with your band?

I love playing music and especially our music. It’s my way of communicating with people.

What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Work hard, chase your dreams and support other bands in your area specially!

Which do you think are the biggest obstacles for bands in Greece?

The financial situation we are into. Nowadays things become a bit difficult for bands like us. We just started and there are so many difficulties that we have to pass.

What’s the best and worst thing about playing in clubs?

There’s nothing bad about playing in clubs.  The only thing I have in mind now is the unexpected lack of equipment.

Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Live show is not a classic concert to our eyes. It should be an experience to remember. Our music is one thing and it is subjective but anyone who attended one of our shows will not forget it.

Tell us a bit about the band’s history. What does “Gallows Pole” means to you and why you chose that name?

I started the band with a friend by jamming with some other guys in our area. After many changes in line up I can finally say that we are ready to start the big “journey”.
The band name was a big problem. We tried many different but when I heard the phrase Gallows Pole, it stuck in my head so we chose it.

Through dedication to make the band “work” and chasing my dream through it, Gallows Pole has become more of an ideal. The ever chasing of my long-term goals through hard work and dedication.

Can you describe us the lyrical theme of your songs? What inspires your lyrics and music?

Themes vary. Every song is “our part” of a conversation with the audience and as in any extended contact with other people there will be multiple subjects for discussion.

Inspiration is mostly drawn from either human interactions (call it emotion, subconscious, war, corruption or politics) or unreachable (to most) universes, states and feelings (death, madness, fiction per say).

What’s next for your band?

We are almost ready to start recording our first LP. Only a few songs left to complete. Also we are looking for more lives and concerts.

Are there more live dates coming?

There’s one more live in 14 February in Remedy Live Club again.
Also on January we are planning to do one more.
